Parliament Debates Item of Election of RA Constitutional Court Judge

On June 12, the RA National Assembly began the work of the regular sittings.

The Speaker of the parliament Ara Babloyan presented the draft laws to the agenda on making addenda to the agenda of the third session of the RA NA sixth convocation and the regular sittings, which were approved by voting. Afterwards the parliament debated the item of the RA Constitutional Court Judge.

Under Part1 of Article 166 of the RA Constitution, Article 213 and Part 3 of Article 141 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of the RA Constitutional Law, the General Meeting of the Judges nominated Yelizaveta Danielyan’s candidacy for electing in the vacant office of the Constitutional Court Judge.

First, the Acting Chairman of the Court of Cassation Yervand Khundkaryan presented the procedure of the candidate’s election for the vacant office of the CC Member by the General Meeting of the Judges.

The MPs Rustam Makhmudyan and Edmon Marukyan expressed their viewpoints on the candidate’s abilities.

In her final speech Yelizaveta Danielyan thanked the RA NA Speaker for organizing meetings with the members of all factions.

Under Part 7 of Article 141 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of the RA Constitutional Law, the Constitutional Court Judge is elected by secret ballot.

The Chair of the RA NA Ad hoc Committee Gagik Melikyan informed that the voting of the election the RA Constitutional Court Judge will be held on June 13, at 11:00-11:40 a.m.

The item on completely passing the draft law on Making Addendum to the RA Law on State Duty was debated in the second reading was debated. The key speaker, The RA Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan presented the item.

The RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs endorsed the draft law.

The RA Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan presented the draft law on Amending the RA Law on General Education.

The co-speaker Vardan Bostnajyan noted that the draft law was endorsed by the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.

The RA First Deputy Minister of Justice Artur Hovhannisyan presented the draft packages of a number of RA laws.

The packages of bills were debated in the second reading.

The RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and Protection of Human Rights endorsed the debated draft laws and package of bills.

The RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Artsvik Minasyan presented for debate in the first reading the draft law on Approving the Annual Report for 2017 on the Fulfillment of the State Property Privatization for 2017-2020.

The Deputy Minister of Defense Makar Ghambaryan presented for debate in the first reading the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement, presented by the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security.

The Chairman of the RA National Commission on Television and Radio Gagik Buniatyan presented for debate the report on the Activity of the National Commission on Television and Radio.

The debate of the item will continue at NA June 13 sitting.

According to the NA Rules of Procedure of the RA Constitutional Law, the deputies made statements at the last sitting.
